Ceramics, Glass, Mosaic and Collage

One art project leads to the next with a constant flow of creation. My mixed-media collage work exemplifies the interaction of tactility and character of different materials. I love combining different imagery and materials; old photos, maps, and a variety of metals which I tool and patina. My trips to New Mexico and Arizona, have had a strong impact on my aesthetic while maintaining my own sense of whimsy.
I earned a BA from Western Or. University in 1992. I was devoted to ceramics after graduation, working and teaching for the Salem Art Association.   Later, I went on to develop an art glass program and instruct at the Marjorie T. Sherman Art Center. I became adjunct instructor in the Department of Art at Chemeketa Community College in Salem introducing mosaics as part of the curriculum. I am best known for my fanciful clay sculptures of dogs and rag doll-like people. I have recently added assemblage and collage to my repertoire, reminiscent of the ritablos found in Hispanic folk art. My work was recently featured in Oregon Home Magazine.
